Information on ESSA meetings from IAAE

Below is an email from Ryan Wise (head of the Iowa Department of Education)  about the January meetings across the state concerning the draft of the Iowa ESSA plan.  The draft will be released on January 6th.  In December, IAAE was invited to a meeting with Dr. Wise to discuss the "well-rounded education" aspects of ESSA and arts education. We hope you can take advantage of these opportunities to represent the arts.
Leon Kuehner, IAAE Executive Director

Dear Colleagues,

We are gearing up for January information sessions to share Iowa’s Every Student Succeeds Act draft plan, and I need your help getting the word out. The Department will release the draft plan on Friday, January 6. The statewide public meetings will then run from January 9-19, with a format that is informational – we will present details about the plan, field questions and take input.

The dates and locations of those public meetings are included below. All meetings begin at 5 p.m. We’ll also plan to have a Zoom link for each meeting so that folks may listen remotely.

I appreciate anything you can do to help us spread the word (via email, social media, website, etc.) about the draft plan and information sessions.

Please note that some days have more than one meeting site. See you in January!

Click continue reading to see the dates of meetings. Some updated dates due to recent weather. Zoom webinar links are included also.
