Request for survey participation

Dear Directors:

My name is Vicki Tam-Anderson, a middle school band director in Minnesota currently working on a master’s thesis at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul.  This thesis looks at the experiences of female band directors and how they balance their personal life with their career.  In particular, I am investigating the impacts the responsibilities of teaching secondary level band have on a female band director’s personal life decisions as well as the relationships between a female band director’s family life and their professional choices and goals.

A portion of my research into this subject involves surveying female band directors at the secondary level.  As a current secondary-level band director, you are invited to participate in an important survey regarding the experiences of female band directors and how they balance their personal life with their career.  This research is being conducted as part of a graduate thesis through the University of St. Thomas, in St. Paul, Minnesota.

This link will take you to the survey and the survey should take about 15 minutes of your time:

Your input is greatly valued as an educator and as a woman, and I hope that you take time to complete the survey. Your answers will be held in the strictest confidence. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have regarding the research.
