SEIBA Honor Band Audition Update

As of right now we are still anticipating moving forward with the auditions as scheduled.  I understand some areas may have a difficult time getting there and may or may not be in school today.  Please talk with your district transportation department to see if it is safe for you to travel.  If you are unable to attend please contact Audra Bailey and let her know.  As we have done in the past for those schools unable to attend due to weather, we will accept one student from each school as long as you have at least 5 students scheduled to audition.  If you arrive late, that's no problem we will make adjustments where we need to in order for your students to audition. 
 
If for some reason we need to make any changes to the day we will be posting information on the SEIBA website prior to 6:30 AM.  I will also send out an email for any changes that need to be made.

New Directors Get-Together

Thursday, September 3rd, SEIBA New Directors Get-Together at 6:30PM at "The Edge" Restaurant in Coralville. All first and second year Directors as well as new to SEIBA directors are welcomed and encouraged to attend. At this get together you can get acquainted with other area band directors, get information about festival and contest dates, learn more about SEIBA and IBA, and get a great meal where the tab is picked up by SEIBA (South East Iowa Bandmasters Association) and West Music Co.! In addition, if you are a first or second year teacher and would like a mentor, this is the place to do that also! This meeting is geared to welcome all new band directors but mainly to assist first year teachers in finding a mentor for the school year and maybe even for life! Fall Symposium for New Teachers

Saturday, October 31st, Fall Symposium, ISU Campus in Ames. This Symposium is a day long event directly geared for 1st and 2nd year Art Educators (Band, Vocal, Orchestra, and Art.) All the sessions are centered around topics that are important to first year teachers such as a panel discussion from 2nd and 3rd year directors on "How I survived my first year," a session sponsored by IHSMA on rules and regulations, to a round table discussion with retired and experienced band directors.
