Dear Colleagues,
The University of Iowa School of Music is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. R. Mark Heidel as our new Director of Bands. Dr. Heidel will be the sixth Director of Bands in the School of Music's one hundred and one-year history. He will follow Dr. Myron Welch, who will retire in May after serving as the Director of Bands at Iowa for the past twenty-eight years. You can read Dr. Heidel's current bio here.

There will be a reception immediately following the UI Symphony Band Concert on May 9 at the IBA conference in Des Moines. We will honor Dr. Welch and welcome Dr. Heidel.
